01

Overview

A daily fitness companion I'm designing and building end to end as a personal product — currently in beta, with me as its first daily user. It tracks the three things that actually move the needle — workouts, calories, and hydration — and wraps them in a habit loop engineered to keep you coming back. Built in React Native with its own backend API, one codebase for Android and iOS.

02

The Idea

Most fitness apps are databases with a UI: powerful on day one, abandoned by week three. The insight this app is built on is that the product isn't the logging — it's the consistency. So every design decision optimizes for one thing: making today's check-in effortless, and making the chain of days feel too valuable to break.

03

One Card to Rule the Day

The home screen opens on a single Today's Focus card: today's workout, calories remaining, and hydration progress in one glance. No dashboards to interpret, no menus to dig through — the two most common actions, logging a workout and adding water, sit right below it as one-tap quick actions.

  • Today's Focus — the day's workout, remaining calories, and water intake in a single dark card.
  • Quick actions — workout logging and water tracking are each two taps from a cold app open.
  • Four tabs total — Home, Log, Workouts, Stats. Nothing deeper.
04

Workouts That Survive Real Life

A gym session doesn't happen in one clean app session — phones lock, calls come in, apps get killed. Workout state is persisted continuously, so an in-progress session shows up on the Workouts tab with a Resume Workout card no matter what happened in between. Start logging your back day, get interrupted, pick it up where you left it.

05

Momentum Hub — the Streak Engine

The retention core of the app. Every day you check in extends your streak, visualized as a week strip with your best streak, total days, and — crucially — streak freezes: earned tokens that protect the chain when life happens, so one missed day doesn't erase a month of momentum. Milestone badges like the 7-Day Titan give the next few days a name and a target.

  • Day streak with a weekly check-in strip and a live flame counter in the header.
  • Streak freezes — a forgiveness mechanic, because streaks that die on the first miss teach people to quit.
  • Milestone badges with progress bars — the next goal is always visible and always close.

Status

The app is in active development and daily use — the screenshots are from the live beta. The core loop (Today's Focus, workout logging with resume, hydration and calorie tracking, and the Momentum Hub streak system) is built and running against its own API; a public release is the next milestone.
